Korea Institute of Energy Research Appoints New President, Signals Shift Toward Carbon Neutrality

Jeong's term runs for 3 years. He said the institute must move away from its existing follow-the-leader style of research and small-project-centered practices if it is to respond to global energy competition and greenhouse gas reduction targets. To that end, he outlined as main directions the establishment of a culture of collaboration, more efficient organizational management, a technology-leading R&D system, and support for creative challenge-driven research. He also plans to use the institute's campus as a place for technology demonstration to speed up the path from results to market.
