Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Proposes Expanding AI Transport Cooperation at APEC

According to AI TIMES, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport proposed expanding cooperation among member economies centered on AI and smart mobility at the 12th APEC Transportation Ministers' Meeting held in Beijing, China, on September 22. At the plenary session, the government delegation introduced domestic autonomous driving pilot projects and smart logistics cases, and suggested continuing to share policy and technology experience through the APEC Smart Mobility Forum, which South Korea is leading. According to the article, the focus of the discussion was less on digital transformation itself than on how to refine the cooperative framework that would support it. In particular, the delegation stressed the need to jointly address emerging challenges in connected transportation systems, such as data use and protection, cybersecurity, technology standards, and safety standards. It also introduced efforts within the Transport Working Group to strengthen the foundation for responding to new issues by preparing recommendations and reorganizing its structure to streamline overlapping functions. The delegation also visited a local autonomous driving pilot zone and plans to review the actual operating case for use in domestic policy.
