NIPA Signs MOU With Artificial Analysis

The National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) said on the 14th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Artificial Analysis (AA) at NVIDIA headquarters in California.

Artificial Analysis is an AI evaluation specialist based in San Francisco. The organization conducts performance comparisons and assessments of major global AI models in areas such as reasoning, coding, and agents.

Artificial Analysis operates the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index (AAII). It also supported benchmark evaluation using the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index (AAII) during the second-stage evaluation process for the "Independent AI Foundation Model" project.

The MOU was arranged to help strengthen the global competitiveness of Korean AI models and support the advancement of performance evaluation systems based on the expertise and capabilities of the two organizations. Under the agreement, the two sides plan to support global performance verification of independent AI foundation models and cooperate in identifying and advancing joint projects in the AI evaluation and analysis field.

At the signing ceremony, Artificial Analysis also presented a certificate to the Ministry of Science and ICT recognizing South Korea as the world's No. 3 in AI (Korea Ranks #3 Globally in AI). The presentation was held to mark the result of Artificial Analysis's AI model competitiveness analysis, which ranked South Korea as the world's third-strongest country behind the United States and China.

The signing ceremony was held at NVIDIA headquarters. Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, visited the event.

Jensen Huang congratulated South Korea on its rise to the global top 3 in AI and also congratulated the signing of the NIPA-Artificial Analysis agreement. He also expressed interest in cooperation between the two organizations.

Immediately after the MOU signing, the NIPA side held a separate meeting with the head of the agency, officials from the Ministry of Science and ICT, and senior NVIDIA executives. Madison Huang was among the executives present. They discussed directions for cooperation on AI computing infrastructure and support for helping Korean AI companies expand globally, with the goal of advancing South Korea's AI ecosystem.

At the meeting, NIPA explained that South Korea's AI development capabilities and ecosystem have grown rapidly based on sustained investment and efforts from the government and the private sector. It also said that South Korea's AI competitiveness has recently been recognized in global assessments.

The two sides discussed possible participation in South Korea's joint pavilion at next year's "NVIDIA Technology Conference (GTC)," to be held in San Jose, California, and the possibility of hosting the event in Korea in the future. Through this, they confirmed the potential for related cooperation and agreed to continue discussions.

Park Yoon-kyu, head of NIPA, said the agency would use the agreement with Artificial Analysis as an opportunity to boost the global credibility of domestic AI models. He also said NIPA would expand the scope of cooperation to the AI semiconductor sector, include neural processing units (NPU) in that expansion, and strengthen ties with NVIDIA. He also said the agency would actively support the global expansion of domestic AI companies and improve their technological competitiveness.

NIPA held the "2026 All-People AI Competition Everyday Innovation Track Reboot AI Utilization Contest" on the 3rd at D.Camp in Mapo, Seoul.
