Samsung Galaxy FE Breaks KRW 1 Million Mark for First Time; S26 FE to Launch in Korea on the 4th

Samsung Electronics will launch the 'Galaxy S26 FE' in Korea on the 4th. Samsung Electronics announced its domestic launch plan for the Galaxy S26 FE on the 3rd. The photo was provided by Samsung Electronics.

The model sold in Korea comes in a single 256GB configuration. Colors are Blueberry, Graphite, and Pistachio. The launch price is KRW 1.045 million.

The 'Galaxy S26 FE' is equipped with key features from the Galaxy S series. The FE lineup is designed to offer the Galaxy S series' major features and user experience at a relatively lower price.

This model is the first among Galaxy FE smartphones released in Korea to have a launch price above KRW 1 million. Samsung Electronics said the S25 FE was a product designed so more users could access flagship-level features at a reasonable price.

Domestic FE launch prices have shown a steady upward trend. The S23 FE 256GB launch price was KRW 847,000, and the S24 FE launch price rose to KRW 946,000. The S25 FE launch price remained at KRW 946,000, while the S26 FE launch price was set at KRW 1.045 million. As a result, the price gap between the S26 FE and the S23 FE is KRW 198,000.

Based on 256GB, the launch price of the standard Galaxy S26 is KRW 1.254 million. The price difference between the standard S26 and the S26 FE is KRW 209,000.

Looking at the specifications, the standard S26 comes with 12GB of memory and an Exynos 2600 chip. The S26 FE has 8GB of memory and uses an Exynos 2500 chip. Common specifications for the S26 FE and its predecessor include a 6.7-inch 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, a 4900mAh battery, and 8GB of memory. The S26 FE AP has been changed from a 4-nanometer (nm) Exynos 2400 to a 3nm Exynos 2500, the S26 FE display's peak brightness is 1900 nits, and 30-minute charging reaches up to 69%.

The S26 FE is equipped with a triple rear camera consisting of a 50-megapixel wide lens, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto lens. The telephoto camera supports 3x optical zoom and up to 30x digital zoom. Water and dust resistance is IP68, and the operating system is One UI 9 based on Android 17. It offers up to 7 generations of OS upgrades and 7 years of security updates.

For video features, it supports 'My FanCam' and 'Super Steady.' 'My FanCam' is a feature that tracks the movement of a specific person in a video and edits the footage around that person as the center. 'Super Steady' supports horizon-lock functionality. Galaxy AI includes 'Now Brief' and 'Now Nudge.' 'Now Brief' provides information after understanding the user's context, while 'Now Nudge' suggests the next action.

'Now Nudge' and the horizon-lock supporting 'Super Steady' are features that were preloaded on the Galaxy S26 series released in the first half of the year. Samsung Electronics applied 'Now Nudge' and 'Super Steady' to the S26 FE. Through this, Samsung Electronics expanded the AI and camera features of the S26 series to the FE lineup.

The unlocked model is also included among eligible devices for the 'New Galaxy AI Subscription Club.' Subscribers are guaranteed a residual value of up to 50% based on the Samsung.com standard price when they return the device. However, whether demand for the existing FE lineup will be sustained at the S26 FE's KRW 1 million-range price is expected to be confirmed through actual sales.

According to a Counterpoint Research survey, the Galaxy S26 series posted a 13% increase in sales compared with the previous model over the 6 weeks after launch. However, sales of the Galaxy S26 series were relatively weak in price-sensitive markets, and in Europe, the price-frozen S26 Ultra drove early sales.
