Kakao to Hold 'AI Dot Summit 26' in Busan, Expanding Local AI Ecosystem

Kakao announced that it will hold the 'Kakao AI Dot Summit 26' in Busan. The event will take place on the 29th at the Busan Port International Exhibition Convention Center (BPEX) and is expected to draw about 800 people, including founders, startup executives, students, and developers. Through the event, Kakao plans to create opportunities for technology exchange and commercialization.

The event will share Kakao Group's AI transformation (AX) cases and AI technology trends in South Korea and abroad. Based on this, it plans to support the growth of local AI companies and technology exchange. Kakao aims to expand the local AI ecosystem through the summit.

The event is hosted by 'Kakao AI Dot,' an organization promoting the development of local AI talent and companies. Kakao AI Dot is a private-sector cooperation body that links Kakao Group's technology and business infrastructure with the research capabilities of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology (DGIST), and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST).

Kakao AI Dot focuses on supporting local AI talent development, startups, and company growth. Through this summit, Kakao will work to provide local AI talent and startups with opportunities for technology exchange and commercialization.

The conference will feature presentations by Kakao and affiliates' practitioners, technology experts from global companies, local founders, and academics, sharing Kakao and its partners' AI strategies, technologies, and application cases. The keynote will introduce Kakao AI Dot's business direction and AI infrastructure. The subsequent presentation sessions will cover Kakao Group's AX strategy, industry-specific use cases, a panel discussion with local founders, and AI solutions from global technology partners.

In addition to technology presentations, the event will also operate booths run by global partners. Participants will be able to see AI technologies and solutions firsthand through these booths. Business consultations and networking opportunities will also be provided so attendees can discuss potential business collaborations with domestic and international technology companies.

As a side event, the AI agent hackathon 'Ralpthon' for prospective founders will be held on the day of the event. Students from the four major science and technology institutes and local talent will participate in the hackathon. Participants will validate ideas using AI agents, develop products that can be demonstrated within a day, and assess their commercialization potential.

Kakao plans to use this event as a catalyst to expand the networking base that leads to AI technology development, startup creation, and commercialization in the region. Registration is open through the 6th on the Kakao AI Dot website. Participation is free.

Kim Young-deok, head of the Kakao AI Dot Center, said the company plans to connect Kakao's technological capabilities and business experience with the research strengths of the four science and technology institutes, as well as insights from domestic and international technology partners. He expressed his determination to support the revitalization of the regional AI ecosystem through this effort, and said he also intends to support local companies' entry into global markets.
