“Public Cloud Alone Isn’t Enough”: Cloudera Unveils Unified Platform for the Agentic AI Era

Cloudera, a hybrid data and AI platform company, unveiled a new platform to address demand in the agentic AI era, where public cloud alone has limits. On the 20th, Cloudera said it had launched Cloudera Anywhere Cloud, a new platform for the agentic AI era.

Cloudera Anywhere Cloud is a platform designed to let users build, deploy, and scale AI applications without moving data. The platform supports multi-cloud and on-premises environments, and it enables the building, deployment, and scaling of AI applications across multi-cloud and on-premises settings.

Cloudera Anywhere Cloud operates in a standalone format and is designed to complement existing large-scale data lakes. At its core, the platform aims to deliver a consistent cloud experience regardless of where data resides.

Cloudera said the platform offers a modular architecture, self-service provisioning, automated management features, data control features, and sovereignty management features. It also said agentic copilot-based support helps users work with non-moving sensitive data assets, automate workflows, and carry out AI functions.

The company said the platform launch was driven by the expansion of enterprise AI operations and the rise of infrastructure challenges. Cloudera assessed how many companies intend to adopt AI operating environments and pointed to fragmented infrastructure, long platform upgrade cycles, and increasingly complex data sovereignty requirements as obstacles.

According to the Cloudera Data Readiness Index report, 73% of IT leaders said infrastructure performance constraints hinder operational initiatives. The company said that amid this trend, many AI projects are halted before reaching the operational stage.

Cloudera said it is offering Cloudera Anywhere Cloud to address these issues. The service provides a cloud-native user environment with one click and operates a single management console based on a modular architecture.

It covers public cloud, sovereign infrastructure, and private data centers. Through this structure, AI and data services can be deployed, managed, and scaled independently. Cloudera said this eases enterprises' data-movement burden and makes it possible to move from AI experimentation to operations without vendor lock-in.

Cloudera also said the platform can enable integrated governance across the entire data estate and support digital sovereignty. Key features include shorter deployment times for private AI and sovereign AI, flexible workload placement across public cloud, sovereign infrastructure, and private data centers, and centralized governance based on zero trust.

It also includes support for data lineage management and data sovereignty management. Cloudera presented an image of the Cloudera Anywhere Cloud interface, and the source of the image is Cloudera.

The service is introduced as supporting the Cloudera certification engine, with Spark, Kafka, and Trino, and as providing open-source engine support along with Apache Iceberg support, Polaris Catalog, integrated API, and open-standards interoperability.

It also offers an agentic copilot feature that turns natural-language requests into automated data workflows. The service was presented as providing multiple certified and open-source engines, open standards, API, and copilot features together.

Leo Brunnick, CPO at Cloudera, pointed to the limits of public-cloud-centered enterprise AI approaches. He said Cloudera Anywhere Cloud can provide the speed and flexibility of the cloud where data lives, while accelerating AI initiatives and preserving customers' ownership of their data, intellectual property, optimized infrastructure, token costs, and business models.

Cloudera partners described it as a point of use for a single platform connecting data centers and public cloud. They also said it enables graph-based AI execution without moving data.

Sergio Rodriguez de Guzman, CTO and co-founder of Aizen, a data and AI consulting company, said Cloudera Anywhere Cloud provides a consistent single platform for data, analytics, and AI across customers' own data centers and public cloud environments. Based on this, he said he expects faster development of agentic AI capabilities while maintaining enterprise-scale governance, flexibility, and control.

Waymo Liu, CEO of graph query engine company PuppyGraph, said companies are moving quickly to apply AI agents to data. He noted that agents cannot achieve complete reasoning with databases alone and need knowledge-based understanding of ontology, entities, relationships, and context. He added that Cloudera Anywhere Cloud provides trusted Apache Iceberg-based data across cloud, data centers, and the edge.
