Samsung SDS' Brity Works Adopted by 9 Central Government Agencies, Turning Public-Sector Generative AI Into a Work Tool Beyond Proof of Concept

In the public sector, the adoption of generative AI is moving beyond individual proof-of-concept projects and expanding into civil servants' everyday collaboration environments. This trend is reflected in Samsung SDS AI collaboration solution Brity Works being selected as the official collaboration tool for 9 central government ministries and agencies, and is also evident in the government's efforts to expand the scope of the generative AI-based work management platform OnAI.

Accordingly, competition in the public AI market is also shifting from a single-chatbot focus and document summarization services to integrated work platforms that encompass search, knowledge management, approval, and meetings.

Samsung SDS said on the 13th that the number of central government ministries and agencies deciding to adopt Brity Works had expanded to a total of 9. In April, the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Planning and Budget adopted it, and additional adoption was later confirmed by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the Financial Services Commission, and the Overseas Koreans Agency, among others. Services for those agencies are scheduled to roll out sequentially through this month.

Brity Works is a solution that combines AI search, knowledge management, document drafting support, messenger, video conferencing, and information sharing. It integrates existing collaboration functions with AI capabilities, allowing users to use it without separately accessing a generative AI service.

The solution is designed so that AI can be used within civil servants' work flow. Civil servants can use AI search across multiple administrative documents to find the information they need, and they can use automatically organized meeting results for follow-up tasks.

It also supports real-time reporting and approval, participation in video conferences, and AI meeting-minute summaries in mobile environments. As a result, work can continue even during business trips or field visits.

The importance of collaboration platforms is growing in the public AI market. In the public sector, the existing scope of generative AI use has remained limited to testing individual functions such as civil complaint handling, internal document search, and draft report writing. By contrast, the adoption of Brity Works seeks to incorporate AI functions into everyday work environments by linking them with email, messenger, meetings, approvals, and information management.

Such adoption is presented as a differentiating point from simple work automation. Brity Works accumulates documents and meeting records on the platform and has functions for managing them as searchable knowledge assets. This differs from previous use cases in that it aims to connect various work tools with AI and incorporate them into routine work systems.

The factors that determine the effectiveness of AI search are said to be model performance and the level of systematic accumulation and management of work materials. The structure of Brity Works is tied to AI search performance by aligning with a method of accumulating and managing stored documents and meeting records as knowledge assets.

The background to Brity Works' expansion in the public sector is attributed to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's OnAI expansion policy. The ministry plans to expand OnAI, an intelligent work management platform based on generative AI, to more than 40 central administrative agencies by the second half of this year. Samsung SDS provides the official Brity Works collaboration tool within the OnAI environment.

If public AI is fully introduced into administrative work, the key axis is expected to shift from functional diversity to security and integration with existing systems. Because central government ministries and agencies handle citizens' personal information and nonpublic administrative data, it is difficult to provide services in the same way as general commercial generative AI. Accordingly, issues such as per-agency permission management, data leak prevention, data storage locations, and usage log management must be addressed.

In this regard, Samsung SDS said Brity Works operates on a public-private partnership (PPP) cloud environment that has obtained the National Intelligence Service's top-tier security level. The company said that through this foundation, central government ministries and public institutions can use generative AI in an environment with stronger security.

The next task is to link the increase in participating institutions to actual usage outcomes. In this process, AI search accuracy, meeting-minute summarization quality, and the level of integration with existing electronic approval and work management systems are likely to determine on-site usability. In addition, if mobile services are expanded, terminal authentication security systems and access permission management security systems will need to be advanced.

Samsung SDS Solution Business Division Vice President Song Hae-gu said the fact that 9 central government ministries and agencies selected Brity Works as their official collaboration tool shows that Brity Works' use in the public sector has entered full swing, and added that the company will strengthen its integration with OnAI mobile services to create a convenient and secure work environment for civil servants anytime, anywhere.
